Our History
Discover the rich history and family legacy behind Tony’s Seafood! Our roots date back to the early 1900s, when Angelo Pirri, a Sicilian fisherman who immigrated to the United States, settled in Bristol, RI and began selling fish locally. He passed on his knowledge and skills to his son, Anthony “Tony” Pirri, who served in the U.S. Army’s 129th Division during World War II before returning home to continue working with his father.
After his father’s passing in 1947, Tony formally established Tony’s Seafood, which was later expanded by his children Angelo and Nikki-Ann in 1978 with the opening of a wholesale and retail operation in Seekonk, MA. In 1997, Angelo Pirri designed a state-of-the-art processing plant in Warren, RI, which is now home to the wholesale and processing division of Tony’s Seafood.
Today, our retail store in Seekonk, MA is still owned and operated by the Pirri family, specifically Angelo’s oldest son, Anthony. Meanwhile, the Wholesale division in Warren, RI is managed by Angelo, his wife Jeanne, and his sons Mark and Dominic. As a fourth-generation business, Tony’s Seafood is proud to continue its family tradition of selling the finest quality seafood available. Trust us to bring the taste of tradition and excellence to your table.
